While looking for something I came across my passport and noticed that it was coming up for renewal. So, I applied online as you can now and got the paperwork sent to me filled out in all the right places. Nice and easy. Then of course you need to get a new passport picture. As this is something that will haunt me for 10 years I wanted to make sure that it was a decent picture and not one from a booth at the station. I found somewhere that actually used a human being to take the picture and did my best deadpan look. When I got back home I compared it to my last two passports.
Aged 20 and aged 30. One thing that is clear to me, apart from all the stamps from all the travels around the world, the true travel that happens in the sock draw is time itself. Now at 40 years old I wonder what my younger self would have said to the new addition to the passport picture family. Maybe, something like, stay off all the pies or invest in some hair dye. Either way, the sock draw certainly takes you on a journey without having to leave the house. I wonder what the next picture will have to show me?
