Moli & The Lambo…

There are few things in life better than driving a £150,000 super car at speed around a racetrack and I was lucky enough this weekend to do this.   Most of the racetracks that allow such exciting activities are sadly a fair distance from London and the Vision Motor Sport track in Great Dew, Oxfordshire is a good two hours drive.  Before I could drive away I was given an informative briefing on how to take a turn using the apex of the track and when and how to brake to ensure maximum speed.  It would appear that many a driver would turn up with more ambition than talent and end up splattered into a wall.  To that end, I had a really nice and friendly tutor with me to offer advice and to make sure that we kept safe, however the car didn’t have duel controls, so it was really up to me how much advice I took.

I was given the experience from a couple of friends for my birthday and after a fair amount of waiting I finally managed to get behind the wheel of a 530bhp Lamborghini Gallardo .  The track isn’t that large but it does allow you to experience the power and maneuverability of some of the world’s best sports cars such as Aston Martin, Ferrari and Lamborghini.  The car I drove was very low and wide with pedals barely wide enough for children’s feet, let alone my wide clodhoppers, which made changing gear and more importantly breaking a difficult thing to do.  It took me a couple of laps to work out the best way not to kill myself.  I’m not really sure how someone without tiny feet could drive something like this on a regular basis; also the clutch pedal is really tough and has a very long travel before the biting point.  The power under the throttle was simply amazing and apart from a little turbo lag, it would go from 0-60 in under 4 seconds that was a little like having a funfair ride under your right foot.  I have to say that I really enjoyed the experience and I wanted to stay out for longer or try some of the other cars on offer.  I’ve got a feeling I’ll be going back…

Thank you H & S,

M
